CLARIFY
Don Madge trained with RAYS for 5 months during
which time his trainer at the time, Rayana Ameeroedien arranged
a title fight for him - he travelled with her to Pretoria and
fought for the SA Super-Am K-1 Rules Jnr championship title at
the Berario recreation centre on 19 April 2008 - which he won.
The sum of R500 was paid by Ameeroedien for his belt.
Madge is no longer associated to RAYS and despite appearing on
the poster, did NOT participate at the 'Sons of Africa' international
Muay Thai tournament on 19 July 2008.
This photograph as with the others were taken during his training
at Rays and with permission and is the property of Rayana Ameeroedien.
The purpose of this entry on our site is solely to clarify any
uncertainty regarding our previous involvement with the abovementioned

the 2nd round.

CHAMP LOSES ON THAILAND SOIL AFTER CLOSE DEFEAT
Rayana Ameeroedien lost on points after 5 rounds
of gruelling action in Thailand for the WPMF World Muay Thai title.
The fight started off with both fighters being very cautious in
the first round. In the second things started heating up as the
Thai came in with strong kicks to the body as Ameeroedien counted
with powerful punches to the face of her Thai opponent. The third
and forth rounds were pretty even as Ameeroedien stayed close
trying to neutralize the kicks of Nongkarn and working inside
with body punches and hooks to the tough Thai. In the 5th and
final round both fighters went full out to secure the victory
but in the end it was the Thai who won by points decision.. Ameeroedien
happy about going the distance with her Thai opponent after a
2 year absence from the ring commented: "It was a good fight,
I'm happy I went the distance with the champ but I want to take
that belt home to South Africa. I'm looking forward to the rematch!"
